WJTW is a community radio station broadcasting on frequency 100.3 FM, 100 watts strong now serving the 120,000 to 240,000(in-season) listeners in Jupiter, Tequesta, Juno Beach, and Palm Beach Gardens on the fabulous Treasure coast of Florida. Our radio station, founded in January 2004, by a group of local residents. is dedicated to providing it's listeners with a superior variety of musical memories from the 50's 60's and 70's. HOMETOWN RADIO ARRIVES IN N.E. PALM BEACH COUNTY!

In 1996 the Federal Communications Commission deregulated the radio industry. One of the unexpected consequences was that deregulation was the massive consolidation of radio ownership. The Clear Channels and the Infinity Broadcasting companies bought hundreds of radio stations. In fact, Clear Channel now owns about 12% of the radio stations in the United States. As a result of this consolidation, hometown radio was almost totally lost.

Realizing that the loss of the hometown radio stations was a mistake, the FCC began exploring ways to re-establish this traditional form of radio. In 2000, the FCC voted to create a Low Powered FM radio service. Originally the FCC looked at licensing 1000-watt, 250-watt, 100-watt and 10-watt stations. Their antenna would only be allowed up to 100 feet above average terrain. In addition, the FCC looked at revising certain technical restrictions that would have made more frequencies available. However, the major media concerns - like Clear Channel - plus entities like National Public Radio immediately attacked the idea and were ultimately able to get Congress to weigh in. After the dust settled, the Low Powered FM radio service had been cut back to 100-watt stations and 10-watt stations with no changes to the technical restrictions. But in June of 2000, Low Powered FM was born and the first applications were accepted by the FCC.
In June of 2001 an application window was opened by the FCC for applicants from Florida to file and Jupiter Community Radio, Inc., a not-for-profit organization filed an application for a 100-watt FM radio station at 100.3 on the FM dial. However the FCC didn’t grant us a construction permit until October of 2003. With a construction permit in hand, we began building WJTW and on January 29, 2004 Hometown Radio was born.
